Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you are taking antidepressant medications, blood thinners, digoxin, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), birth control medication, or if you have diabetes, iron deficiency, or a liver disorder. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a health care practitioner. Stop use and consult a health care practitioner if you develop symptoms of liver trouble such as yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice), stomach pain, dark urine, sweating, nausea, unusual tiredness and/or loss of appetite.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, do not use in cases of yin deficiency with heat signs, heat excess, or in the absence of significant qi deficiency. Do not use if you have bipolar disorder or bipolar spectrum disorder.

Stop use if you experience insomnia, irritability, anxiety or headaches. Rare, unpredictable cases of liver injury associated with green tea extract-containing products have been reported (in Canada and internationally).
