Our Environmental Approach

Knowing that health is derived from a cleaner environment, at Laboratoire Suisse, we are actively committed to an environmental approach.

We are continuously evolving to offer you high-quality products while also doing more to protect the environment.

We consider all aspects of our activities and the concrete actions that can be implemented to reduce our ecological footprint.

Our environmental approach revolves around three main themes: ecological packaging, local manufacturing, and continuous improvement.

Ecological packaging

We are proud to offer more than 50% of our products in bottles made from 100% recycled materials. In fact, we are among the first in the natural health product sector in Canada to take this step.

We aim to provide more to health-conscious consumers who are also more aware of their environment. Our ecological packaging complies with the pharmaceutical standards applicable to natural health products as outlined by Health Canada, ensuring and preserving the quality of the products.

Local manufacturing and packaging

Prioritising local manufacturing and packaging has many advantages. From an environmental point of view, it helps reduce transportation and GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions.

As a proud local company, we also support local manufacturing and packaging to encourage job creation and economic vitality in Quebec.

Some of our flagship products, such as our Swical Energy ampoules and our probiotics, are manufactured and packaged locally at our facilities in Boucherville.

Continuous improvement

Being an eco-responsible leader means we’re always striving to do better.

Our environmental approach is part of an internal process of continuous improvement.

We continue to look for ways to reduce our ecological footprint.

For example, we are exploring ways of improving our energy efficiency and reducing our waste. We are also listening to our partners, consumers and their expectations of an eco-responsible company.

Past initiatives

Putting words to action –

Laboratoire Suisse x Mission 1000 tonnes

To support our eco-responsible approach (see details below), in 2022-2023, we have taken one step forward towards our societal commitment by collaborating with an organization concerned about our environment and our planet.

What is Mission 1000 tonnes?

Nonprofit organization with objectives:

  • Protect marine and aquatic ecosystems through collecting waste near worldwide waterways.
  • Encourage waste reduction

Our engagement of 2022-23

We have partnered with Mission 1000 tonnes to take action for the betterment of our planet. The Laboratoire Suisse team joined in by cleaning out waste near waterways.

  • For each ECO product sold, we donated $0.50 to Mission 1000 tonnes*
  • By a part of our revenue from the sales of our ECO packaged products, we received the “Certified offset plastic” certification. The best is always the plastic we do not produce. Mission 1000 tonnes offers a way to counterbalance for the plastic we cannot eliminate from our daily lives.
  • Participated in 2 major clean ups near waterways in Québec with Mission 1000 tonnes: October 2022 and Spring 2023.

*Only sales of Laboratoire Suisse identified ECO products were counted, until 12 000 sold products.

Cleanup on October 11, 2022, near Saint-Laurent river, Parc Médéric-Archambault – Pointe-aux-Trembles. Total gathering of 2 764 pounds of waste!!!

Cleanup on May 31st, 2023 at Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. Total gathering of 2 300 pounds of waste – more than 1 tonne !!!

These bottles do not originally contain any bisphenol A (BPA), and no BPA is introduced as an additive during recycling. Besides, no toxic chemicals or conflict minerals are used in the manufacturing or the distribution process of this recycled plastic.
